Alternative Provision
Our award-winning Alternative Provision was established in 2011 and has helped over 300 young people in that time. We specialise in using the outdoors to facilitate growth, develop new skills, foster wellbeing, and nurture resilience and self-confidence.
The team at Path Hill are skilled in working with students who find the classroom environment a challenge. Our outdoor learning setting particularly benefits children with SEMH needs, those suffering with anxiety, attachment issues and ACEs, as well as a range of other needs.
Path Hill works with LEAs, PRUs, schools and parents to design and implement interventions to support young people.
Our success is underpinned by three main principles:
- Our outdoor and natural location is rich and varied, providing safe spaces and an environment that brings learning to life.
- We develop effective and supportive relationships with referrers, parents/carers, and other professionals involved in the care of the student.
- We offer a range of activities – most of them practical and/or physical providing opportunities for our students to develop interests, open up to new adventures and foster hope for their future.
We offer two programmes as part of our Alternative Provision:
- One to One Programme– a one staff to one student tailored curriculum for young people.
- Small Group Programmes – a short term, small group programme for students from the same educational setting. This programme is particularly effective with young people who lack self-esteem.
It is our privilege to see young people move forward with their lives, grow in confidence and self-esteem, and look forward to their future with enthusiasm and hope.
“Path Hill has supported school and parents, and allowed R to stay in education in school at a time where this might not have been an option.”
“Path Hill Outdoors worked 1-2-1 with my child when they could not manage mainstream school – it was a really positive experience, when a lot of other things were not working and leading to dysregulation and distress. Being flexible with staffing, location and activity choices meant that R was able to be successful. Path Hill Outdoors also helped with R’s transition to special school”
